All Things Gemma

Archive for February 2012

I haven’t been on a shopping spree for ages and I doubt I will again until I get some birthday money or something. The only shopping sprees I’ll be doing will be for the baby, I may show off a few cute things I get but I doubt anyone will be interested in wipes and nappies! Anyway, I have picked up  the odd thing for myself over the past few months. All the make up products were bought before I started my project ten pan (apart from Viva Glam Nicki… I couldn’t resist!)

♥ Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer
♥ Revlon Eye Brightener & Primer

♥ Mint Cardigan
♥ Sally Hansen Nail Quencher Hydrating Base Coat
♥ Rapid Brow Growth Formula

♥ ELF Nail Polish in Smoky Brown
♥ MAC Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick

♥ Palmers Massage Cream for Stretch Marks x2
♥ Palmers Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks

♥ Gillette Venus Pro Skin Sensitive Razor
♥ Gillette Venus Satin Care Shaving Gel

If you want to see a review or swatches of anything I’ve show just leave me a comment and I’ll see what I can do.

I tried another easy nail design, lots o’ dots!

Both photos were taken without flash.

I used Models Own Coral Reef as the base and Models Own Blooboo, Grey Day & Lilac Dream for the dots.

What do you think?

I couldn’t decide which colour to use so I used a few pastels.

I used Models Own Lilac Dream, Models Own Blooboo, OPI Banana Bandanna, Models Own Pastel Pink & Models Own Beth’s Blue.

I think these look cute for spring… is it spring now?

If you remember I posted this around a week ago, it is a list of ten beauty products I’m using up before I buy anything else.

I have finished three of the products already.

♥ Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair
♥ Benefit Get Even in 01 Light
♥ Ed Hardy Original Perfume
♥ Revlon Top Coat Nail Polish
♥ Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Foundation in 005 Light Beige
♥ Max Factor Mastertouch Under Eye Concealer in 303 Ivory
♥ Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original
♥ Benefit Dr Feelgood
♥ Benefit Playstick in Spin The Bottle
♥ 17 Blusher in Bramble Frost

Benefit Get Even in 01 Light

This pressed powder is a light enough colour for me and it covers redness quite well but I find that I have to reapply throughout the day more than once.
I will not be repurchasing this product, if it was cheaper I might just to use to cover redness but I don’t think it’s worth the money as it doesn’t last, which means I end up using much more than I would like.
(I have a project in mind for the empty case – look out for that soon)

Max Factor Under Eye Concealer in 303 Ivory

This concealer is made for under eyes yet it didn’t seem to do anything to cover my dark circles. You don’t get much product and you need quite a lot of it to really cover anything at all.
I will definitely not be repurchasing this product.

17 Blusher in Bramble Frost

This is the first blush I ever used when I was first trying out make up. I bought it again a couple months ago to see if I would still like this over 10 years later. It is a good blush, nothing special about the colour or formula but it does what it’s supposed to. It stays on all day and is cheap.
I would repurchase this if I was on a budget but I normally prefer more interesting colours.

I’m not doing too badly with working my way through the rest of the products so I’ll post another update next week.

Have you tried any of these products?

You may or may not be aware that I’m pregnant, I’m around 19 weeks. So I’ve been looking at baby stuff on etsy, here is a few of my favourite geeky clothing items that I’ve come across.

Click the images to go to the esty page to buy it.

Urban Decay Primer Potion is one of  my ten in Products I’m Using Up, so I thought I’d empty out what the wand can’t reach so I can actually finish it and cross it off the list. For anyone that is interested in how I did that keep reading.

You will need:
♥ UDPP (Old Version)
♥ Strong Scissors
♥ Kitchen Knife
♥ Empty Pot

Use your scissors to make dents where you need to get to the product. It makes it easier when using the knife. My scissors have little teeth in them, they’re really hardcore.

Use your kitchen knife on a hard wearing surface (not a keyboard) and saw through where the dents are. Be careful!

Then you’re left with this:

Loads of left over product and there’s more in the bottom! It can get kind of messy.

Clean out your empty pot with a drop of alcohol to get rid of any germs.

I used the wand to scrape out the product out from the tube and into the pot but you could use a spatular if you prefer. As you can see there is just a little too much to fit in the pot. This is definitely worth the effort to get your moneys worth.

Easter is a time when there is a lot of cuteness about. Baby chicks, bunnies and pastel colours. Here are some inspirational Easter nails for you all.

I’d love to see what you do to your nails for Easter, email me or post a picture to my facebook wall 🙂
