Here are a few of the tips I usually follow at Christmas so as not to gain a ton of weight. Of course you can let yourself go and enjoy all the lush food but if you watch your weight then you have to have some limits!

♥ When it comes to nuts and small chocolates it’s best to stick to just one handful a day.
♥ The Christmas roast dinner is always too big. Load your plate with loads of veg and lean meat, just cut off any visible fat. Be aware of how many roast potatos, roast parsnips and pigs in blankets you’re having, these are all loaded with fat.
♥ Have a low fat breakfast and lunch any days you’re off to a party, don’t completely skip these meals as you’ll over indulge later.
♥ Alternate your alcoholic drinks with water or diet sodas to slow down calorie consumption. Also the more drunk you get, the more likely you are to dip into the nuts and other nibbles.
♥ Stick to spirits with diet soda or diet juice. These are a lot lower in calories than beers, ciders and “pussy pops” …you know like WKD’s, Smirn Off Ice’s and things like that.
♥ Eat candy sweets over chocolates as even though they are still high in calories they are at least low in fat, unlike chocolate, nuts and crisps.
♥ Try to get some exercise, even if it’s just a short walk, I have dogs so we have to take them out no matter what day it is! A fun idea to get everyone involved is to play a game. There are plenty of active family games available for the Wiii, Xbox and PS3. I’m sure Santa will be delivering these types of games to a lot of kids (and adults).

So those are my main tips to avoid massive weight gain this Christmas. What things do you do?
